Snow Gum Burls

Snow Gum (Eucalyptus pauciflora) is an Australian native found throughout the cold mountain ranges and high tablelands of south-eastern Australia, particularly the Snowy Mountains, ACT, Victorian High Country and Tasmania. It is one of Australia’s most cold-tolerant eucalypts, thriving in areas exposed to frost, snow and strong alpine winds.

Snow Gum Burl is highly sought after by woodturners for its tight, swirling grain, burl eyes and beautiful natural character. Colours can range from pale cream and golden tones through to warm reddish-brown, often with darker veins, gum lines and bark inclusions.

Perfect for turning bowls, hollow forms, vessels, boxes, knife handles, pen blanks and resin projects. Every burl is completely unique and may contain natural cracks, voids, bark pockets or inclusions—these are part of what gives burl timber its incredible character.
