Red Mallee Burl is one of Australia’s most striking native timbers, prized for its deep red and burgundy colours, creamy sapwood and incredible swirling grain. Every burl has its own unique figure, making each finished piece completely one of a kind.

Red Mallee grows naturally throughout the dry and semi-arid regions of southern Australia, including parts of Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and south-western New South Wales.

This dense hardwood turns beautifully and can be polished to an outstanding finish. It is ideal for bowls, platters, hollow forms, knife handles, pens, jewellery and other feature projects.

As a natural burl, each piece may contain bark inclusions, small cracks, gum pockets or voids. These are natural characteristics of the timber and add to its unique appearance.
