Cherry is a beautiful, easy-to-work timber loved by woodturners for its smooth finish and warm natural colour. Freshly cut it appears a light pinkish-brown, but over time it deepens into a rich reddish tone, giving finished pieces a classic furniture-grade look.

It turns very cleanly with sharp tools, rarely chips, and sands quickly to a silky surface. Cherry also polishes exceptionally well — even a simple oil or wax finish brings out a soft glow without needing stains.
