Birdseye Redwood Timber – Yarra Valley Origin

These majestic trees are the tallest living beings on Earth, and their stunning timber—especially when featuring the rare and highly prized birdseye figure—is sought after by woodworkers and collectors alike. However, it's notoriously difficult to come by.

This particular piece comes from a locally downed redwood tree in the beautiful Yarra Valley. It showcases the unique beauty and history of these giants.

Despite their towering height, redwoods have surprisingly shallow root systems, typically reaching only 6 to 12 feet deep. Their true strength lies in their vast horizontal root spread—extending up to 100 feet from the trunk—and their tendency to grow in groves where roots intertwine for support. It's a powerful metaphor for resilience and connection, now captured in this rare and remarkable timber.

Please note: All timber cuts are subject to a tolerance of up to 5mm.
